For a quarter century, Hope Generation has ministered to a part of the world that is mostly ignored, a place Henry Kissinger once called the "international basket case". We are talking about Bangladesh, an impoverished piece of the world like none other.
When Hope Generation first arrived in Bangladesh, 75% of Bengali's were illiterate. An opportunity arose to help establish a Christian primary school. We believed God was giving us an assignment to help give a child a good education, founded on Christian principles, all warmly wrapped in love. That was 25 years ago. We now have more than 700 children enrolled in the first school from various religious backgrounds.
In 1991, Hope Generation began the Home of Hope, a Christian ministry of compassion, that takes in orphaned and homeless children from among the poorest of the poor in Bangladesh. Initially we were able to rescue 16 children. Now we have 218 children who receive not only food and housing, but also formal and Christian education, health care, and life skills training. We have been able to expand the ministry to build Hope Centers and Youth Centers in various parts of the nation to provide education, nutritious meals, and most importantly God's love.
